The theme of the 2012 Venice Biennale “common ground” prompted Fulcrum to make a proposal for a daily newspaper, The Commonplace, to be printed in a converted shipping container (also to be used as an exhibition space). The proposal was accepted by David Chipperfield in May 2012, however lack of funding resulted in a downscaled version (without the container) hosted by the British pavilion.
